I have lived in Atlanta since 2011. When I was pregnant in 2011 with my first child I looked into getting my tap water tested for lead. Getting a filter that removed lead (and lasted a year) was cheaper than getting my water tested. So I opted for a filter and have been promoting filters to my neighbors and friends ever since!

I grew up in NYC drinking tap water and have always consumed tap water anywhere in the US. When traveling to Mexico or India or across Africa, I use a filter-bottle. The filters I promote here are ones I like, they work, they are affordable and easy to install. I think most any filters are a better and cheaper alternative to bottled water.

I don’t do this to make money. I do it to share that there are other options out there for drinking water than buying plastic bottles — and also because PFAS are increasingly concerning and common (and can be found in bottled water).
